Independence Grove An Experience of Gratitude
I sat on a bench and saw light purple flowers and felt a calmness in my soul.
I sat today. I looked at a lily pad. I wondered what it would feel like to hop across each one. I imagined myself sinking and splashing into the water because my reality hit. I’m not light enough, in reality right! But, it was neat to imagine, ya know? I then saw the ripples in the water and realized that I was sitting in the most beautiful spot I had in a while but not because of the scenery, but because how I felt inside; beautiful! The sun shone bright. The heat wasn’t too intense, but it calmed my spirit to feel such heat. You see, I live in Northern Illinois and “Is it ever going to get HOT?” is a real question for me! I mean, it says 75 degrees, but it feels more like 50 and I want to be grateful, I do, but this is still too cold. Today, I brought a light jacket, in June. Once I began walking though, I took the coat off! I sat on a bench and saw light purple flowers and felt a calmness in my soul. How am I–this blessed to just sit in such a beautiful place like this while my kids are somewhere else, safe? It’s a question that baffles me! I am sooo grateful.
This was my experience today. Independence Grove, an experience of gratitude.
Thanks for reading.
